Rachel Gevlin is an Assistant Professor of English at Birmingham-Southern College, where she teaches courses on eighteenth-century literature and culture, gender and sexuality, and writing. She received her PhD from Duke University in 2020. Her research focuses on the literature and legal history of eighteenth-century England, with particular attention to the history of divorce law and its impact on women. Her current book project explores how the emerging genre of the novel negotiated gender inequality through narratives of adultery, bigamy, and divorce.
