Dr. Rachel Holden is a nephrologist and a Professor in the Department of Medicine with a cross-appointment to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen's University. She is a Deputy Editor of the Canadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease. Dr. Holden and her associates study basic mechanisms of vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease. A focus of her research program is clinical, basic and translational aspects of vitamin K metabolism and specifically the role of vitamin K in the inhibition of vascular calcification. Dr. Holden's clinical interests include mineral bone disorders in chronic kidney disease and hemodialysis patients.
