Rebecca Williamson

Research Officer, Australian National University

Rebecca is a research officer and casual lecturer in the School of Sociology. She is currently contributing to a collaborative project on family-friendly workplace policy and supporting breastfeeding in the workplace.

Rebecca's research interests include geographies of mothering and care work, child- and family-friendly cities and workplaces, urban public spaces, migration, everyday multiculturalism, and urban ethnography. She was awarded her PhD from the University of Sydney, Department of Sociology and Social Policy, in 2015 for her urban ethnographic study of place-making practices and mundane multiculture in an ethno-culturally diverse neighbourhood in Sydney.

Prior to joining ANU, Rebecca worked as a researcher on the Social Transformation and International Migration Project (University of Sydney). She has also held research and consultation roles contributing to research projects on transnationalism, temporary migration and rural health.
