Adjunct Associate Professor School of Biology, Flinders University

I have over 30 years of experience in research in microbial ecology with specialisations in Legionella and contaminated land. This has resulted in research collaborations with such diverse partners as Rio Tinto, SA Water, and Victorian Health Department.

I was invited by the World Health Organisation, with other internationally acclaimed experts, to consult regarding the control of Legionella. This work resulted in the 2007 WHO publication on this subject.

I have provided expert legal advice relating to the majority of Legionnaire’s disease outbreaks in Australia. I have provided expert advice and numerous Legionella risk assessment and risk management plans relating to Legionella control in cooling water systems, health care facilities, potable water systems and soils in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the US.

I have provided training programs relating to Legionella management and control for a variety of clients including ALCOA Australia, Hong Kong College of Pathologists, and AIOH.
