Professor of International Public Management, University of York

Richard has degrees from the University of Lancaster (BA), London School of Economics (MSc) and the University of York (DPhil). A former civil servant, Richard's academic career began as a researcher at the London Business School in 1988. Since then, he has lectured and researched at various UK universities plus the City University of Hong Kong. Richard joined The York Management School in September 2013 from Manchester Business School, the University of Manchester.

His main research area is primarily in the field of International and Comparative Public Management (with a recent focus on the Middle East and Eastern Europe) with a particular interest in policy learning and transfer, organisation development and HRM in public services.
