Richard PG Hayhoe

Senior Lecturer in Public Health, Anglia Ruskin University

Richard Hayhoe is an experienced researcher and lecturer in public health. He has particular interests in the importance of nutrition for healthy aging and translating evidence into action.

He has a broad scientific knowledge and background from the cellular to the population level. This is shown by his academic qualifications which include a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Southampton, a PhD in Immunopharmacology from the University of London, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Essex. He has had experience working in laboratory experimental research, as well as designing and carrying out observational and interventional population studies, and working directly with local authority public health teams to influence public health services and policy.

Prior to moving to Anglia Ruskin University in Jan 2021 as a senior lecturer he was employed by the University of East Anglia from Dec 2012. At UEA he was funded for several years by Norfolk County Council to provide academic support and evaluation of different public health interventions in the local area. Subsequently he was funded directly by UEA Medical School and involved in a number of different research projects, mostly focused on nutritional epidemiology, but he has also worked with funding from UEA Health and Social Care partners to analyse the association of nutritional factors with mental wellbeing in children.
