Professor of Media Sport, University of Stirling

Richard's principal research interests focus on the inter-relationships between sport, the media and popular culture. He has recently published work on the history of sports broadcasting in Britain, the history of sports commentary in radio and television, the impact of social media on sports journalism, the history of sport on film, Olympic broadcasting, the strategic management of sports communications, sports image rights, sports journalism and the globalisation of televised sport.

His book, 'BBC Sport in Black and White' (Palgrave) won the Lord Aberdare Literary Prize in 2017. His forthcoming book is entitled 'Streaming the F1 Rivalry: Sport and the Media in the Platform Age' (Peter Lang).
