Richard Kumah, PhD

Richard received his PhD from the School of Environmental Studies at Queen's. His research interests revolve around natural resource extraction (specifically mining) and governance, environmental justice and climate change. His PhD project focused on examining the drivers of informal artisanal and small-scale mining by examining local perspectives relative to the governance structures (at various scales) within which they are embedded. The goal is to inform knowledge and practice on the best approaches to promoting a cleaner, equitable and sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining sector.
