Reader in Music and Sound, Edge Hill University

Richard Witts is Reader in Music and Sound, and Programme Leader for the Music, Sound, Enterprise programme. Richard’s research concerns music policy, especially that of the BBC, the Arts Council, and other national and international cultural institutions. He is also interested in the use of experiential and metaphorical analysis in order to explain popular music. Richard has written three books, several chapters, many journal articles, and radio programmes. He has presented keynote and other papers at national and international conferences. Richard is the alternate departmental representative on the faculty research committee, and a Council member of the Royal Musical Association.
