Professor of Anthropology, Rochester Institute of Technology

I am the author of 4 books two of which are on wine. My work is cited in books on the history of Anthropology (e.g. George Stocking's The Ethnographer's Magic). I have published widely on southwest French wine cooperatives, terroir and most recently tourism. My first book, Understanding Cultures, originally published in 1984 is still in print as a second edition (2001, Wiley Blackwell). I was a Fulbright scholar to Poland to lecture on the contemporary status of American Anthropology. I teach courses social and cultural theory, the anthropology of food, history and anthropology among numerous others.
