Postdoctoral Fellow at Natural History Museum-Smithsonian Institution, and at Monash University. At Otago since the 1980s. Teach paleontology and stratigraphy. Research is on NZ fossil vertebrates. Fellow of Royal Society of NZ; Hutton Medallist, Royal Society of NZ. Senior editor, Journal of the Royal Society of NZ. Various museum affiliations.
