Roberto Suazo Gómez is a Chilean writer and educator, specializing in premodern literature, history, culture, and art. He holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic American Literature from the University of Chile and in 2022 was conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the University of Otago. His current research addresses the "mythologizing" of Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote, and how this and other Spanish literary masterpieces have been historically misappropriated as tools of nationalism and colonialism, and are still misused by contemporary far-right politics.
