I earned my A.B. in Government from Harvard and my M.A./Ph.D. in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. I have been a professor for over 25 years, having published over 100 articles and book chapters in the areas of media influence and emotion. I have co-edited two books (SAGE Handbook of Media Processes and Effects; Emotions in the Digital World), and I am a Fellow of the International Communication Association. I teach and do research in the areas of media psychology, influence, and health, with particular expertise in emotional processes. My current research investigates emotions around media use and how to harness media use to enhance well-being.
