Robin Smit is a Director at and Founder of Transport Energy/Emission Research (TER) and an Adjunct Professor with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His research has focused on measurement and modelling of transport emissions, dynamic fleet (turnover) modelling, software development and statistical analysis. He obtained a MSc degree (Air Quality) from Wageningen University in the Netherlands (1994) and a PhD (Transport Emissions) from Griffith University in Australia (2006). He is a member of the European Research Group on Mobile Emission Sources (ERMES). He has almost 30 years work experience in emission, air pollution and climate projects in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East. Robin's work is published in national and international scientific journals. He has also presented at various conferences, discussion panels and has lectured in both Europe and Australia. Robin founded the Transport Special Interest Group within the non-profit Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ), was chair from 2010-2020 and was awarded the CASANZ Distinguished Service Medal in 2022.
