Rolands Kromanis

Dr Rolands Kromanis BEng MSc PhD is a research active lecturer in the Civil Engineering Section at Nottingham Trent University. He is a module leader for Mathematics (undergraduate module), delivers selected lectures to the first and second year undergraduate students and is responsible for delivering computer aided design to the second year civil engineering students. He is also module leader of Condition Assessment and Health Monitoring of Civil Infrastructure module, which is taught in Master's in Science in Structural Engineering course. Dr Kromanis also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Hi is also a director of PhD studies.

His present research interests include structural health monitoring, system identification and biomechanics. He is developing approaches for low-cost vision-based systems for condition assessment of structures. Dr Kromanis has developed an image processing application DeforMonit that can be used to analyse deformations of/in structures by analysing images (or video) that are captured when a structure has been subjected to loading. He has published in computer science and engineering journals. He is also a reviewer in a number of journals.
