I am an atmospheric scientist who examines microphysical processes leading to precipitation and the many factors leading to extreme events. Current research areas include hazardous winter precipitation (freezing rain and snow), winter storms (cyclonic and orographic), and drought. I have a special interest in the melting and freezing processes occurring near 0C aloft and at the surface. All of these research interests are relevant to a host of weather and climate issues.
