Senior Lecturer in Child Development and Community Health (Primary Care & Public Health), University of Sussex

Ruth received her PhD from Cardiff University in 2013. Ruth is an ESRC Future Research Leader Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex. She is also an Associate member of the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University.

Her primary research interests focus on the examination of risk and resilience-based processes underlying child and adolescent psychopathology. She is interested in employing genetically sensitive research designs to examine the interplay between genetic factors and rearing environments (e.g. parenting; inter-parental relationships) that may help to understand the processes of intergenerational transmission of mental health problems. Ruth employs longitudinal/cohort research designs and advanced statistical methods to better understand mechanisms that may explain the development of psychopathology and other adverse outcomes and that can help to inform intervention and prevention strategies.
