Professor of Statistics, Director of Centre for Translational Data Science, University of Sydney

I am the Director of the Centre for Translational Data Science, University of Sydney and a Professor of Statistics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sydney, Australia. I was awarded an Australian Research Council Future Fellow 2014-2018 and I am currently Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre Data Analytics for Resources and Environments (DARE). I am also Chair of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis’s section Bayesian Education and Research in Practice.

My research focus is the development of new and novel probabilistic models which are motivated by the need to solve an applied problem with potential for impact. I have particular expertise in the use of mixture models for complex phenomenon, modelling longitudinal data, nonparametric regression, the spectral analysis of time series and in the construction of transitions kernels in MCMC schemes which efficiently explore posterior distributions of interest.
