Dr Sally Xiaojin Chen is a Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Sussex. Sally has been closely involved with Chinese media and modern Chinese culture both in the industry and in academic research.
She was awarded PhD in Sociology, Media and Cultural Studies at King’s College London. Before pursuing a PhD, Sally worked as an investigative journalist for South Media Group in China, where she gained extensive experience writing feature reports for magazines, weekly newspapers, and daily newspapers.
Sally has been pursuing research in interdisciplinary fields, particularly in internet research, Chinese studies, and journalism in China. She is also interested in conducting comparative studies on media in transition in the digital age, focusing on UK media, Chinese media, and media industries in a global context.
