Salvador Rueda was the City of Barcelona's Director of Urban Ecology from 2000-2020 in charge of developing applied research to help the city increase its capacities to sustain life. A psychologist and biologist by training he has worked in public administration since the late 1970s after he co-founded the first urban environmental action group in Spain. He is an author of six books, a co-investigator on 13 EU funded projects as well as advisor to cities across Spain and South America. He obtained a degree in Biological Science from the University of Barcelona. He also has a degree in Psychology from the University of Barcelona, as well as a diploma in Environmental Engineering from Spain’s Ministry of Industry and Energy and Spanish Research Universities. In addition, he has a diploma in Energy Management from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya.
