PhD Candidate, University of Manchester

My PhD is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and a President’s Doctoral Scholar Award from the University of Manchester. I am a member of the Centre for Doctoral Training at the Sustainable Consumption Institute. I have recently published in Accounting Forum on the Apple Business Model and the International Journal of Logistics: Research and Applications on supply chain segmentation in the sporting goods sector.

My research interests are in the areas of sustainability, open innovation and supply chain management. During my PhD I will explore how open innovation can enable environmentally and socially responsible capabilities. Further, I will investigate how this relationship is moderated by the level of power held by the focal firm versus that of its suppliers and the degree to which suppliers are integrated into the focal firm’s products and processes.

I have 14 years of industry experience in the field of supply chain and logistics. My most recent role was with adidas where I was responsible for the set up and day to day running of adidas’ London 2012 Olympics warehouse. This posed the challenge of receiving, storing and distributing 8.5 million units of stock for Team GB athletes, volunteers, and consumers during the London Olympic Games. During my time at adidas I also undertook a part-time MSc in Supply Chain and Logistics Management at the Cranfield School of Management.
