Research Fellow, Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN), The University of Melbourne

Sarah Backhouse is a Research Fellow with the Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN) at the University of Melbourne.

With qualifications in architecture and positive psychology, she has been facilitating future focused conversations about spaces for working, learning and living for the past 18 years. Sarah’s research and teaching interests span learning environments, design for ageing, architectural briefing, and psychological wellbeing.

As an advocate for design and construction innovation, Sarah was also the Founding CEO of PrefabAUS from 2012-2014. PrefabAUS is Australia’s peak body for off-site construction, and its formation was an outcome of LEaRN’s ARC Linkage Project Future Proofing Schools.
