Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies with expertise on the intersections of media and performance history, including theatre and film history, digital technologies in 20th-century and contemporary performance, and intermediality in theatre, museums and cultural heritage sites. Author or editor of four books, 46 articles and essay on intermediality in performance and avant-garde history in film, literature and theatre. Former Fulbright Scholar in Media and Cultural Studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands (2015); recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for summer institute on Digital Technologies in Theatre and Performance Studies (US, 2018). 50+ invited international lectures and keynotes. Founding Director of the Techne Institute for Arts and Emerging Technologies (University at Buffalo, 2012-2015); former series editor of book series Avant-Gardes in Performance and member of 10 journal editorial and advisory boards. Current Chair of the World Wide Web Consoritium Working Group for Performing Arts Information Recognition to establish international, multi-lingual standards for identifying performing arts events online.
