Sean Carleton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Education at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, Treaty 7 . His research examines the history of settler colonialism, capitalism, colonial violence and Indigenous resistance, and the rise of state schooling (common, public, mission, day, boarding and industrial schools) in Western Canada in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
