Sean Carleton is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of History and Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Treaty 1 Territory and the Homeland of the Metis Nation. His research examines the history of settler colonialism, capitalism, and the rise of state schooling (common, public, mission, day, boarding and industrial schools) in Western Canada in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
