Sham Qayyum

Sham is an Associate Senior Lecturer in Law, Leadership and Policy at SOAS University of London, and a Knowledge Exchange Fellow. He is also an expert witness in Islamic Law, with special reference to South Asia.

Recipient of multiple knowledge exchange grants, he has creatively worked with public and community-led organisations to improve racial equity, social mobility, civic participation and the quality of life of people in Britain. In recognition of his work he received an 'oustanding scholar' award by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in 2014. In 2015 he was made a Winfield Fellow by the US Embassy. In 2016 his Community Leadership Programme was recommended for replication by the European Commission in EU member states.
