Dr Shantey Francis is a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Nottingham Trent University. She teaches on the Youth Justice and Criminology courses.
Dr Shantey Francis was previsouly a youth practitioner for childrens charity for around 3 years in the Northwest of the UK, focusing on youth who were at risk, refugee young people, and those involved in substance misuse or county lines. She completed her PhD in 2020 exploring how young people understand the term violence within their own inner city or rural locations, highlighting the importance of youth voice.
Since joining NTU Shantey is Course Leader and supports the running of the course and ensures all students are progressing and adjusting well to university life. In addition to this Shantey is also the Success for All departmental lead and integral mission of NTU to ensure all students succeed regardless of their background.
