I have enjoyed two career paths. One in industry in IT with a background as a business architect, the latter in academia. The latter allowed me to combine industry practice in the strategic alignment of IT to industry requirements with academic rigour ultimately in the HDR space. My thesis was in the contextualisation of IT in mining in WA and the diffusion of technologies. Easily transferable to academia.
Professional practice in the IT space needs strong representation as we face the challenges of the digital environment across all industry sectors including ethical and societal requirements to be strongly considered as a priority
