Shomon Shamsuddin

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Shomon Shamsuddin is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at MIT. As part of the Resilient Cities Housing Initiative, he studies how housing projects meet the needs of underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad.

His research interests focus on ways to address poverty and inequality through social policy. In particular, he examines policy interventions and innovative strategies to expand the provision of affordable housing and improve outcomes in higher education.

He completed a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Policy at the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning. His dissertation examined ways to overcome barriers to college access and degree completion for low-income students.

In addition, he completed a masters degree at the Yale University School of Architecture and a bachelors degree in Neuroscience at Brown University. He has over six years of professional experience as a housing policy analyst, affordable housing developer, and urban designer.
