Silvio Marcio Montenegro Machado

Marcio is a lecturer in Human Geography at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia - Santa Inês Campus (Brazil). He is part of the research groups GeografAR - UFBA and Geopraxis - IFBA . Marcio has a background in regional and urban development and has done research on territorial transformations and socio-spatial formations in frontier regions (Sant'Ana do Livramento and Rivera). More recently, he has studied land conflicts in Brazil-Uruguay borders by looking at opportunities and challenges for peasant activities in Santana do Livramento (Brazil) and Bella Unión (Uruguay). His currently research is exploring peasantry and common land use.
