Professor of Forensic and Analytical Chemistry, Curtin University

I teach undergraduate analytical chemistry and forensic science at all levels from 1st year to Honours. As Director of Teaching and Learning I am the course and major co-ordinator for all undergraduate courses that come under the purview of the Department of Chemistry.

My activities in analytical and forensic chemistry education have resulted in a number of awards including an Australian Learning and Teaching Council Award for Teaching Excellence, Physical Sciences and Related Studies in 2009.

I am an active researcher in the fields of analytical and forensic chemistry, and I lead the Forensic and Analytical Chemistry Research Group within the Nanochemistry Research Institute at Curtin.

My research interests are focused on chemical techniques applied to forensic analysis, in particular fingerprint detection, decomposition chemistry and trace evidence.
