PhD Candidate in Anthropology, Australian National University

Sophie Pezzutto is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the Australian National University. As part of her dissertation, she spent 12 months in Las Vegas and Los Angeles living with trans porn performers and documenting their daily lives on and off set.

During her time in Las Vegas she was a visiting research scholar at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Comella.

She has published for The Conversation, The Familiar Strange, Bossy Magazine, Transgender Studies Quarterly and AG: About Gender.

Her research interests are economic anthropology, gender, sexuality, friendship, loneliness, as well as social media.
