Stephanie Clayton

Lecturer in Curriculum Studies (Primary), University of Tasmania

Dr Stephanie Clayton is a Lecturer in Curriculum Studies (Primary) and has taught extensively in a range of units within the Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree since 2014.

Stephanie uses qualitative methodologies to investigate students’ learning choices and career aspirations, especially in the areas of Languages and Digital Technologies. Her research helps identify factors which enable and obstruct student enrolment in elective subjects, which can assist education providers and stakeholders with decision-making about timetable frameworks and subject offerings.

Stephanie’s PhD investigated Tasmanian secondary students’ elective L2 enrolment motivation, and the interplay of factors which affect this decision. She is interested in further research within this area to help promote the importance of L2 education and inform policy and curricula decisions.
