Assistant Professor, University of New Mexico

Stephanie L. Moore, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor in Organizational, Information, and Learning Sciences at the University of New Mexico and is a Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Fellow. Her work focuses on developing quality online learning anchored in research and addressing ethical issues that arise in the introduction of educational technologies into learning processes and systems. Her work on emergency remote teaching has been widely shared and cited, and she has worked with the United States Department of State on disseminating research-grounded practices for online and blended learning in partnership with embassies in Morocco, Poland, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. She has also worked on accessibility and access initiatives and has published the first model for ethics and educational technology which centers on design as a process for devising solutions to complex issues such as accessibility, data rights & privacy, and safety & security. Her fellowship with the Barbara Bush Foundation focuses on the use of learning technologies to address adult literacy gaps, studying both efficacy of interventions and improved access to adult education as well as helping to inform strategic planning and investment strategies. She has published books on social and emotional learning online (SEL at a Distance) and on integrating ethics into strategic organizational planning. Her book on ethics and educational technology will be out soon, and she is presently working on a book on planning and design for quality online learning. A central ethos in her work is how we exercise agency over technology through design and planning to provide access to quality learning opportunities, which she believes is a key ingredient to addressing social needs and gaps.
