Stephen Beatty has been a Senior Lecturer at Murdoch University since 2015 and Research Leader (Catchments to Coast) at the Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems (Harry Butler Institute) since 2019.
Dr Beatty's research aims at understanding and helping to address the impacts of climate change, introduced species, and habitat decline in rivers, estuaries and wetlands. Much of his work has focused on the conservation challenges facing freshwater fish and crayfish and has been undertaken in south-western Australia. Applied, solution-focused research and community engagement he finds most rewarding.
