Stephen Hutchings

Stephen was formerly Professor of Cultural Studies and Russian at the University of Surrey (1996-2006) and Associate Professor of Russian at the University of Rochester, New York (1990-1996). He is ex-President of the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies and was a member of the RAE 2008 subpanel for Russian and Slavonic Languages and Cultures. He is Associate Editor of the Russian Journal of Communication and is on the editorial boards of Europe-Asia Studies, Slavonica and Russian Studies in Literature.

Stephen has research interests in Russian cultural and media studies, Russian and Soviet television and film, Russian and Soviet literature and literary/cultural theory.
