Steven Alexander Trewick

Professor of Evolutionary Ecology, Massey University

I was born in India, had a childhood in Africa and England and completed education in UK with a BSc honours in Ecology, before working as a freelance ecologist. I came to New Zealand in 1990, thoroughly disheartened by Margaret Thatcher's Britain and subsequently completed my PhD on evolutionary ecology. I am a long time 'anxietist' and activist on matters of the natural environmental and humanities place in it. I cycle where I can, avoid international travel and plant trees, when not teaching and researching across a very wide range of ecological and evolutionary topics. I have co-worked and co-parented with my wife raising two surprisingly smart and well adjusted children, or so it seems to me.
