Stuart is an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow and Professor in the Centre for Adolescent Health, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. He also holds Honorary appointments at the University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, Monash University and Griffith University. Stuart's research focusses on health outcomes and health service experiences for vulnerable young people and adults, particularly those who come into contact with the criminal justice system.
