I am a research associate professor at the University of Virginia. My research is focused on understanding the effects of progesterone exerted through its receptors, progesterone receptors, and metabolite allopregnanolone on neuronal function. I use experimental animal models of status epilepticus, temporal lobe epilepsy, and migraine to understand how this hormone regulates neuronal function and neurotransmission in the brain.
