Sander van der Linden

Sander van der Linden, Ph.D., is Professor of Social Psychology in Society in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge where he directs the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Laboratory. Prior to this, he held academic positions at Princeton University and Yale University. He is ranked in the top 1% of social scientists worldwide and frequently advises government and social media companies on how to counter misinformation. He was named a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science (APS), received the Sage Early Career Award from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) and the Sir James Cameron Medal for the Public Understanding of Risk from the Royal College of Physicians. He received the 2020 Frank Prize for Research in the Public Interest and his work on influence and human judgment and decision-making has received numerous awards from institutions such as the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), and the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). His work has appeared in journals such as the Nature, Science, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. His research has been widely publicized in the media, including outlets such as the New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR, BBC, and Scientific American. He obtained his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and resides in Cambridge, UK.

His book; "FOOLPROOF: Why We Fall for Misinformation and How to Build Immunity" is now available and was a Financial Times, Waterstones, and Nature Book of the Year and received the Best Book Prize from the British Psychological Society.
