Sydney Forde is a doctoral student in Mass Communications at Penn State University. She studies the political economy of media industries with a focus on how news is funded, and how that funding influences journalism's ability to be democratically responsible. She completed her joint M.A. in Canadian-American Studies at Brock University and the University at Buffalo. As a Canadian, Forde's research often examines cross-national political, media, and policy analysis between Canada and the United States. She has published work in American Behavioral Scientist, has written and contributed to multiple book chapters, and has presented her work at numerous conferences, including the International Communication Association, the Canadian Communication Association, and the International Association for Media and Communication Research.
