Research Fellow - Public Health Evidence and Knowledge Translation, University of Melbourne

I currently work in public health evidence, knowledge translation and exchange (KTE), on a career pathway spanning government, community health and non-government/not-for-profit organisations. I started out in clinical research, then my PhD explored the effectiveness of a group-based healthy eating & physical activity program in a rural disadvantaged community in SA. I worked in a research & evaluation capacity in health promotion policy in the SA Govt Dept of Health. I completed the evaluation of SA's flagship community-wide obesity prevention initiative. I moved to Melbourne to take on a role as Evaluation consultant for headspace - the National youth mental health foundation. A role in knowledge brokering drew me to an academic environment with the University of Melbourne, where i initially worked with local governments in a KTE study to support evidence-informed decision-making in public health. Currently i work in KTE and evaluation with the CO-OPS collaboration, and I coordinate training in evidence-informed decision-making. I work with and learn from practitioners, policy decision-makers and other researchers.
