Dr Terry (Ngarritjan) Kessaris is an Alawa and Marra woman from the Northern Territory who has been living and teaching on Noongar Boodjar (country) in the Perth area Western Australia area for the past twenty years. Her academic career began in the NT at Charles Darwin University prior to moving to WA and she has qualifications in Education and Sociology. She has lectured mainly in pre-service Teacher Education applying a decolonial lens to increase understandings of racially hegemonic barriers that negatively impact Indigenous life opportunities and outcomes. Her most recent research and writing has focused on whiteness and social control in the context of imperialism.
