Thomas Marois is a political economist working on finance for development. He has fostered a global research and advocacy programme on public banks financing green and just transitions, with a particular focus on sustainable development and essential public services. Thomas is also a Research Associate at the Municipal Services Project, Kingston, Canada and holds a Senior Lectureship in Development Studies at SOAS University of London. He collaborates with civil society research institutes, including the Transnational Institute, Amsterdam, the Democracy Collaborative, Washington, and Eurodad, Brussels, as well as with UN bodies, including UNRISD, UNFfD, and UNCTAD. He sits on the Advisory Board of the US-based Public Banking Institute. Dr. Marois has worked in the NGO, private, and public sectors in Canada and Latin America.
