Worked as a research consultant and special advisor to the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on summary executions from 2013-2016; Consulted with the UN Human Rights Committee from 2017-20, especially with respect to the drafting of General Comment No.37; Provided technical assistance to the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights since 2013. Published on the death penalty, accountability mechanisms for violations of the right to life, the right of peaceful assembly and the Sustainable Development Goals. Coordinate the research agenda of "Freedom from Violence" a programme based at the University of Pretoria looking to bring together human-rights- and public-health-based approaches to the problem of interpersonal violence in Africa.
