Assistant Professor of Music and Arts Technology, Indiana University

Dr. Timothy Hsu is an Assistant Professor in Music and Arts Technology (MAT) at IUPUI and leads the Musical Acoustics Lab. Dr. Hsu received a B.M in Piano Performance and in Recording Arts and a M.A in Acoustics from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. He also received a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Prior to IUPUI, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Georgia Tech School of Music and Center for Music Technology and was the Georgia Tech Chorale director. His research area spans vocal acoustics, musical acoustics, and architectural acoustics. Recent projects include work with diffusers and shape grammar, music technology and STEM education, and health applications of acoustics. Additionally, he is a member of the Acoustical Society of America and Audio Engineering Society.
