Tina Hinton (BSc Hons, PhD, Grad Dip Sci Psych) is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at The University of Sydney. She teaches pharmacology to Science, Medical Science, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing and Medicine students, coordinates programs of study and has extensive experience in curriculum creation and renewal. Dr Hinton's published research focuses on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in stress, anxiety and cognition, antipsychotic drug effects on GABA receptor expression, and effects of smoking on nicotinic acetylcholine receptor expression in the placenta. She has also published on pharmacology curriculum, pharmacology learning activities, and influence of learning space on learner activity. Dr Hinton’s current research focuses on complex learning environments and the influences on learner experience and participation in valued practices that lead to learning outcomes in biomedical sciences and healthcare programs.
