PhD Candidate in Mental Health Science, UCL

Tom Metherell is a PhD candidate in the UCL Wellcome 4-year PhD in Mental Health Science. He read Natural Sciences at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, graduating with a BA in 2022. During 2021, he worked in the lab of Dr Amy Orben (at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge) studying the relationships between digital technologies and social media and mental health in adolescents. That work was funded by the British Psychological Society’s Undergraduate Research Assistantship Scheme, and has been presented at the SPSP Annual Convention among other meetings. He is currently undertaking rotation projects as part of the first year of his PhD programme.
