Tony Birch is a professorial research fellow in the Moondani Balluk Academic Centre at Victoria University. His research is concerned with climate justice, protection of country and Indigenous ecological and cultural knowledge.

He is the author of the short-story collections Shadowboxing (Scribe, 2006), Father’s Day (Hunter, 2009), The Promise (UQP, 2011) and Common People (UQP, 2017); and the novels Blood (UQP, 2011), shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award, and Ghost River (UQP, 2015).
