Tracy Kuperus received a B.A. in political science from Calvin College in 1989 and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1995. She teaches courses in international relations, African politics, democratization, and religion and politics.
Tracy Kuperus is the author of State, Civil Society, and Apartheid in South Africa: An Examination of Dutch Reformed Church-State Relations (Palgrave Macmillan, 1999). She has published articles on religion, citizen mobilization, and democratization in edited volumes and journals like African Affairs, Africa Today, International Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society, Journal of Church and State, and Journal of Modern African Studies. She has conducted field work on religion and politics in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ghana.
