Val Gillies

From the 1st of December 2014 Val Gillies will be a Research Professor in Sociology at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She was previously a Professor of Social Research and a Director of the Families & Social Capital Research Group at London South Bank University. She has researched and published in the area of family, social class and marginalised children and young people, producing a wide range of books, journal articles and book chapters on parenting, young people at risk of school exclusion, home school relations as well as qualitative research methods.

Her current projects include an ESRC funded study: Troubled Families: Lessons from Historical Comparative Analysis
